Firstly, I agree with Dr. Billy Sunday was a mighty Presbyterian minister in his time. Vernon McGee also was a faithful man of God within the Presbyterian denomination and a great Bible scholar during his lifetime. Thank God for these great men. Also, within the Methodist denomination are many faithful Christians today who love the Lord and are serving Christ. Howbeit, I am an Independent Fundamental Baptist. I am first and foremost a born-again believer, but I believe that the Baptists, particularly Independent Fundamental Baptists, come closest to following the Scriptures in their churches.
Look at the churches today who are winning the most souls to Christ and baptizing the most converts—Independent Fundamental Baptists. What do these terms mean? A prime example of the dangers of belonging to a convention is seen in the apostate Southern Baptist Convention.
Pastor Under Fire for Purging Members Who Attend Church Poorly
Before I get started I must premise this section by telling you that this is one of the most dangerous and destructive false teaching of the Independent Fundamental Baptist Denomination. Teaching tithing is absolutely unbiblical and nothing more than mind control manipulation. There has been a lot of good information on the truth about tithing made available online and I will provide some links at the bottom of this page to web sites that I have read and agree with.
The purpose of this page is not to go into a lot of detail about tithing. I would simply like to point out the false teachings of the Independent Fundamental Baptist Denomination in this area and touch on some of the important points about tithing that show why it is wrong. When I recently asked an Independent Fundamental Baptist Denomination minister about tithing this was his reply was:

Take the Bible as our supreme guide. Reject doctrines and practices that were introduced after the close of the New Testament. Seek to be Christians only. Believe this is the one and only way to unite all who are seeking to follow Christ. It is primarily a plea for religious unity based upon the Bible. In a divided religious world it is believed that the Bible is the only possible common denominator upon which most, if not all, of the God-fearing people of the land can unite.
This is an appeal to go back to the Bible. It is a plea to speak where the Bible speak and to remain silent where the Bible is silent in all matters that pertain to religion.
